card patterns sketch #36

hey! i got to participate in another blog challenge. this time it's from Card Patterns, and i got to try a funky sketch that i wouldn'tve thought of if i hadn't happened to check it out this week.

for this card i used some Bazzill, owl ribbon, and most of the patterned paper is from DCWV {Indian Summer}. hmm, i even busted out my Cricut for the bookplate cut-out. seems i've been neglecting that lil' baby lately :D

i've been super busy this week--getting swim meets together, going to teacher training, and just being all around tired out. i don't think i got to bed earlier than 11:30pm ANY night this week except for last night. and THEN, i didn't even remember to set my alarm... so thank goodness for family members who "have my back." sheesh--i would've died if i was late to school.

anyway, i'm going to be back for some more posting... i think it'll be Christmas themed. i seriously can't wait. i've been listening to snippets of Josh Groban's "Noel" CD lately--ahh, definitely getting me ready for Christmas :D

thanks for looking, and enjoy your weekend!

oh, P.S.! check out my BLOG CANDY... one more day only to comment!

Card Patterns - Sketch 22

here's the sketch for this week's Card Patterns blog--#22!

it's my second time participating with Card Patterns, and i'm quite excited to submit more cards for the wonderful sketches. i also loved browsing through the DT's work--really fabulous stuff!

here's my card...

i thought it looked cute without a sentiment, but if i add one (which would be inside), it would say, "Hello Nutty" or "You're Nutty!" i had a lot of fun pulling out some paper that i've never used before, and then breaking out my new border punch that embosses a bit. since i used textured card stock and kraft, i thought i'd add some distressing to give the card a more "woodsy" feel. i love that swirl i cut using my Cricut--it was just the right size and everything. and who can resist that little chipboard chipmunk from Colorbok? the vintage button is from my stash, and the ribbon is American Crafts. and those FABBY fat jewels are from K&Co. so sweet!
hope you enjoy, and thanks for looking! this week is the last week before i start helping with VBA's at church, and things are bound to get a bit crazy then :)
p.s. COUNTDOWN TO ECUADOR = 35 DAYS!

sleepy head... (CP #21)

DoodleFactory stamps from Starving Artists are fast becoming some of my favorites... their images are just meant to make you smile. like this funny bunny with such tired eyes... i thought he would be perfect for this guy card. my brothers and dad all agreed--this is a good guy card (my dad first asked, "Is this for a guy? Or a girl?" i don't think he could visualize me giving it to a female.) i like the color scheme... just right for a guy card, but still happy enough for me :D

i used Colorbok paper (from Forest Friends i think it's called) and some basic grosgrain ribbon from Michael's. the little button brads were perfect (from Making Memories) for the suspender buttons on the kraft cardstock overalls.

i used the sketch over at Card Patterns. it's my first time participating, but i love having fresh ideas for cardmaking, so i definitely think i'll be coming back for more :D

thanks for looking, and hope you enjoy!
