bday blog candy winner!

okay, so today i get to report the winner of my birthday blog candy, and i used random.org to generate a number, and it picked comment #4!

Hi,
My birthday is also on May 1st. (although I am older than you are) I am going to lunch with my friend Laura, who also shares the same birthday with us. I am going to celebrate with my husband on Sunday because he works Saturday nights. We are going to church and then out to dinner. I am tickled when I meet people who share the same birthday with me.
Enjoy your special day!

CONGRATULATIONS Peggy! i'll be in touch soon so i can send you your prize :D

thanks so much for your sweet comments and birthday wishes--i had an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING birthday weekend... i got to spend some sweet time with friends and family, and it was really really great :D

thanks again, and have a great monday!

WINNER, cards, nano, and more :D

okay, so O.M.Gosh! there were sooo many comments on the blog candy giveaway! this has been an awesome blog birthday, even though i'm the one giving away the presents :D i am still in awe that i have been running a blog for ONE YEAR! it's really a benchmark.

i loved hearing everyone's comments about their goals and how they accomplished them--so many of you have gotten into shape, and that is awesome!

well, i used http://www.random.org/ to generate a random number for comments... and our winner is

of Ruby-Dooby-Doo's Stampin Spot!

congratulations--your zip-wire slide sounds like fun--what a super goal! :D

send me your info to larsenvt (AT) gmail (DOT) com, and i'll send out your goodies! thanks for playing everyone!

whether you know it or not, you've all encouraged me to keep on writing my novel... it's definitely something i'm going to follow through with because i have seen your successes. my story is getting interesting--so far i have about 7 characters, and they're going to be on a reality TV show--but i have only just been introducing them (in the first 20,000 words!) my characters include:

  • Jen - a 15 yr old girl and her dad, Jerry. they lost their mom/ wife 7 months ago

  • Melli - a 20 something year old, sister to Paul, dealing with a crazy pet dog

  • Aitken - bounty hunter from Moon

  • Derek - mechanic on a space ship that just had a major explosion

  • Ian and Jason - talking coyotes who get into bar fights

  • Meridian - female MC of "The Big Space Game" who wants to jump start her career again(needing a new title for the reality show, but won't have to worry about that now)

so yeah, if you can't tell, i'm mixing genres, time periods, and just using bits of everything from my imagination. the best part is seeing where i'll go next--so far, i don't have a fixed plan, so i can really expand however i want :D

anyway, thanks for participating, and *please* make sure to check back--i've got more candy coming next month, at least.

now, on to the cards :D

i bet you're getting sick of seeing snowflakes, border punches, and velvet ribbon... well, this is the last batch, for now ;)

don't worry, i've got some super funky and ultra bright/ colorful cards to share tomorrow if this isn't quite your thing :D

this first one was made with my brothers in mind. i might pass it on to an uncle, though, since my brothers have seen this card before... but they liked it for Christmas, and that's what matters, right?

so glad you could stop by again--it means a lot. hope you have a fabulous week ahead!

w00t w00t!

okay, quickie post! i made the Fab 5 over at 2sketches4you again this week! WOW. that really made my day. i can't believe it--i'm still smiling :D

this card is sweet and simple. my martha stewart snowflake punches, velvet ribbon, gems, and some border punches. the paper is from K&Co, and it's actually the ocean stack (the name escapes me now...)
great rich colors for a Christmas card, don't you think?
well, there's still time for you to enter my blog birthday giveaway--i can't wait to announce a winner tomorrow!
i'm going to be posting some banners soon... this time with a winter theme--they're so sweet, can't wait to show you :D
thanks for the comments, and have a great day!

embellish owl card + pink snow bunny

okay, so i just have to say that whoever wins my blog candy will have a ton of fun with the Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly papers... at least if they like Christmas, pretty paper, and having fun :D hehe, the snow bunny card features a snippet (that i made into a tag) from one of the Cosmo 12x12's and also some new felt i got at the CK convention, as well as some WeRMemoryKeepers Christmas paper (the polka dots--i embossed some Hero Arts snowflakes in white over top). and yummy yum yum, don't you love the mini mini pom poms and the tulle? :D such a cute card!

and here's my submission for the Embellish Magazine owl and color card challenge. i bought the Webster's trim (the velvet/ ruffled brown ribbon) and that adorable owl stamp (pirate owl with a skull/ crossbones eye patch--so sassy!) at CK too :D i *told* you i had too much fun. oh, and see that new border punch and October Afternoon flower stamp that i used as background? ha--both buys at CK as well... yeah, now i'm realizing the dent i made in my budget i'm kinda gonna be spending ZERO for the next few weeks...
anyway, i'll be back to post some tags and cards soon--and don't forget to enter my blog candy as well as check up on my NaNoWriMo status!

thanks for looking :D

snow day snow cones...

yay! i'm quite the happy camper today :D first of all, this card was made using some more of the eskimo kisses paper from BG that i used to make the "home" card for 2S4U. and guess what?! that card made the fab 5! w00t w00t! :D that gave me a boost, and i know that my week will only be getting better...

so here's the big picture...
see that cute little polar bear holding some snowcones (or snowballs)? which, btw, i'm giving away in my blog-o-versary candy HERE. isn't he the cutest? he's a recent buy from Impress when i went to a stamp night--i paper pieced him and put him on a pop dot for dimension. i also used some fun fluff (flocking) from DeNami Design for the snowy portion of the card, but it's hard to tell in this picture.

anyway, yesterday i got to go up to CK Convention in Bellevue, and BOY, did i have fun (waaay too much fun. my sister threatened to rat my spending habits out to friends/ family, but i think i'll be doing that anyway--probably post some pictures of what i got here on the blog)!

anyway, i'm off to a write-in for NaNoWriMo. i'm happy to report that i have almost met the daily quota, and that Seattle is still in the lead (by a lot, actually :D)
have a great day, and thanks for looking!

card patterns sketch #36

hey! i got to participate in another blog challenge. this time it's from Card Patterns, and i got to try a funky sketch that i wouldn'tve thought of if i hadn't happened to check it out this week.

for this card i used some Bazzill, owl ribbon, and most of the patterned paper is from DCWV {Indian Summer}. hmm, i even busted out my Cricut for the bookplate cut-out. seems i've been neglecting that lil' baby lately :D

i've been super busy this week--getting swim meets together, going to teacher training, and just being all around tired out. i don't think i got to bed earlier than 11:30pm ANY night this week except for last night. and THEN, i didn't even remember to set my alarm... so thank goodness for family members who "have my back." sheesh--i would've died if i was late to school.

anyway, i'm going to be back for some more posting... i think it'll be Christmas themed. i seriously can't wait. i've been listening to snippets of Josh Groban's "Noel" CD lately--ahh, definitely getting me ready for Christmas :D

thanks for looking, and enjoy your weekend!

oh, P.S.! check out my BLOG CANDY... one more day only to comment!

365 Cards day 219

here i've made a very "Paulina" card... pink, sweet, and pearly. i did distress some edges, but it makes it look softer :D

it's for the weaving challenge over at 365 cards day 219. i had some fun with SEI "lovebird" paper, as well as my Cricut, MM stickers, and some paper piercing and pearls. all come together to make this super sweet rendition of the challenge. i realized i hadn't done any weaving since about 1st grade... imagine that?!

i added that bird cage for a sweet touch... don't you think it looks like a pair of lovebirds? :D hope you enjoy. don't forget to enter my BLOG CANDY for an easy chance at some goodies (even SEI paper like the stuff i used here!)

thanks for looking!

365 Cards day 218

here i am posting day 218 Super Sketchy Sunday for 365 cards... i pulled out some new papers from My Minds Eye for this, as well as some lovely vintage white and red buttons.

i'm super busy today, working with cards, getting ready for another week at school, and trying to clean some too. not feeling that great, though, so i may just end up sitting around my craft desk instead of being super productive. oh well. some days just are like that.

thanks for looking, and check back for more challenge cards. also, if you haven't entered my BLOG CANDY, you should do that now--it ends next Saturday. spread the word :D

Kazan's #36 & Dawn McVey's #17

yay, a combo card challenge!

i finally got to participate in two challenges this week, which is major for me since i've been so busy lately with school (open house on thursday) and coaching the swim team (2 meets this week--phew!)
anyway, i was able to participate in the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #17 over at Dawn McVey's blog (use the colors aqua, red, brown, kraft, and cream) as well as Kazan's sketch #36 over at 2sketches4you. hope you check both of them out as the participants have LOVELY entries :D

here i was able to make a super sweet "ho ho ho" Christmas card with one of my favorite stamp lines--DoodleFactory stamps... isn't that Santa the cutest? :D

well, i've gotta run--i'm going to see "Whip It" with my sister tonight--should be good.

also, please enter my BLOG CANDY above for a chance at some lovely goodies.

enjoy, and thanks for looking!
